Scout Rep
Compliance
Last updated: May 2026
Scout helps contractors reach builders, GCs, and developers who pulled public building permits. Outreach is peer-to-peer trade conversation, not consumer marketing — but it still needs to be done right. Scout is built TCPA-compliant (United States) and CASL-compliant (Canada) by default.
What you're sending
Every Scout-drafted message is a B2B inquiry between businesses with a clear pre-existing business interest— namely, a publicly filed building permit naming the recipient's company as the applicant or builder of record. Scout will not draft outreach to consumers, residential occupants, or anyone outside that business context.
Consent & opt-out
- You confirm at onboarding that the contact data you upload was obtained through legitimate business relationships or public records.
- Every outbound SMS includes a clear sender identification and an opt-out path.
- Replies of
STOP,UNSUBSCRIBE, or equivalent are honored immediately and permanently across all channels. HELPreturns sender info and our contact email.
Quiet hours
Scout will not send outbound messages on your behalf before 8:00 AM or after 9:00 PM in the recipient's local timezone, including weekends where local law restricts business contact.
Content rules
- Messages identify you and your company by name.
- No misleading claims of affiliation, sponsorship, or referral.
- No automated mass blasting — every pitch is reviewed and sent by you, not by Scout autonomously.
Record-keeping
Scout retains records of consent, opt-outs, and message content for the period required by applicable law (currently 4 years for TCPA defense). You can request your records anytime.
Your responsibilities
Scout drafts; you send. You are the sender of record and remain responsible for ensuring outreach is appropriate for the recipient under your local laws. If you're unsure about a specific contact, don't send.
